Thoughts For a New Year

There’s something wonderfully simple about a rowing stroke…(don’t worry, this bit isn’t all about rowing!)

No matter what came before, good rhythm or complete chaos, the next stroke is always yours to shape. You get chance after chance to improve, restart, reset.

I’ve often felt a new year arrives with pressure to reinvent ourselves, overhaul routines or launch ourselves into bigger, better, more ambitious plans. Sometimes this feels like a great opportunity, but other times, more of a stressful ‘decision’ that was expected of me.

I’ve come to understand that real change rarely comes from grand declarations. It comes from small, steady choices repeated with a calm sense of purpose.

So, how are you approaching this New Year?

Instead of trying to become a “new you,” it may be worth focusing on simply being you, moving forward, one steady stroke at a time.

This year, these newsletters are going to be short reflections, practical guidance and small actions to help you feel fitter, calmer and stronger in your life, not just in your exercise.

Some things will resonate with you more than others, but i’ll do my best.

Today, just remember, the first stroke of the year doesn’t need to be powerful.

We don’t need fireworks, we just need to take the first stroke.
